It's been a while.......

Totally forgot all about this wee blog I had going here...... Too much work and Too much partying. And a fair chunk of baking thrown in for good measure. All in all, fun times.

There ain't that much to tell sadly, not yet anyways. I had said in my last post that by this point I hoped to be in the process of/have started my own online business...... that has not happened. BUT all is not lost, I am still trying to squeeze in as much baking as I can do, plus I get to eat it. So I'm pretty set at the moment. Hopefully in the next few months I will have a few more exciting photos and something more to say but for this one.... I'm afraid it is just cakes!

Most of these pictures have been up already, but any excuse to look at cake is a good one!? =)

Happy Return to Edinburgh!

So........ my little Jaunt back at home on the Isle Of Skye did not very long at all?! I have been back in Edinburgh for a few days now and have not stopped grinning! It is fab to be back even if the weather sucks and town is INSANE with the festival!!

Now that I am back, the plan for around November time, is to start my own wee online website/business...... hopefully?! If I can get through all the paperwork and figure out if it would actually be in any way a smart idea. So I am nervous and apprehensive and excited about maybe getting that off the ground!

I also did my first ever cakes for a party. To be fair, it was for the birthday party my sister was throwing, but it was nice to get lots of opinions and compliments from everyone! I was however far to busy drinking champagne to remember to take photos to put up on here - Blast! But here are some wee things I have been tackling lately for anyone that wants a nosey!

Banana and Nutella Cake
This was a little wee mini banana cake with some scrummy Nutella Icing. Yum.

Officially now selling my cupcakes on Skye!

So, I have been back home now for a good few weeks. It definitely has it's good points... like the spending of less cash, the amazing weather we have been having, the scenery AND that I have done mad amounts of baking and I am still loving it =)

So, to business. I am selling my cupcakes on Skye!!! =D Feeling pretty chuffed with it to be honest, I am still actually shocked that people want to buy these things!? Basically, if you are ever up visiting this great wee Island nip in to the Watermill Cafe in Broadford. Yes, it may be next to a Serpentarium of all things?!? But I shall be supplying them with some cupcakes AND scones for the next few months. It is tres exciting for me! So here is a little mish-mash of all the stuff I have been giving a go lately...... just to make me feel hungry whilst writing this.

Chocolate Orange Cake

My nephew recently had his 11th Birthday so I made this wee treat for him seeing as I couldn't be there to celebrate.

Lemon Curd, White Chocolate and Meringue

Orange and Raspberry

An orange sponge with some raspberries hidden in the middle with raspberry buttercream. I figure it has to be at least 2 of your five a day!

Red Velvet Wedding Cupcakes

My work catered for a couple who had just got married and wanted a small cosy meal at home so I made these as a little extra!

Cranachan
Made with some delicious Talisker Whisky from the Isle of Skye. Apparently I was quite generous with the measures..... but I thought it tasted gooooood!

Cotton Candy
I was asked to make American-ish cupcakes so I figured the more ridiculously garish the better!!

Millionaire's Shortbread
I could eat these all day, every day. They had the yummy caramel-y toffee stuff in the middle AND in the icing with loads of chocolate. Devine.

Bye Bye Edinburgh!

Sad times. Very Sad times. I left the lovely city of Edinburgh and am now back on the equally lovely, if slightly dreich, Isle of Skye!!! I am still baking away which is no surprise but I have found one small stumbling block - a distinct lack of people to give/force them on to?! I am not going to be able to eat these all myself!? Oh how I miss the awesome folks of Black Medicine, Brass Monkey, Dovecot and my amazing mates for relentlessly taking anything I bake without question!

I am also now starting to make other things..... not just cupcakes!!! I do still love them though! I have been making my first ever pastry for quiche, so here is hoping it tastes good!!! And some Millionaires Shortbread. My utter achilles heel. It makes me weak at the knees. I do love it that much. So here are some photos to keep you all amused...... I have ordered some big bakery deal thing from groupon which I am FAAAR too excited about arriving so expect a *Giant* cupcake and cake pops and other delights in the future! =D I am eager to give them all a go!!

Orange and White Chocolate

These do not sound too exciting..... BUT they are made with fluffy egg whites and ground almonds to make them uuber light!

Oreo and Vanilla

An improved version of the first ever cupcakes I made. These do look decidedly better!!

White Mocha

To *die* for...... coffee sponge with white chocolate in the middle and then both Coffee and White Chocolate Icing. My two favourite things in theee whole wide world!

Red Velvet
So, I don't get what the whole fuss is with Red Velvet but when you add a love heart to it I start to maybe like them..... a little!

Banana and Caramac
One of my favourite childhood sweets and a chance to experiment. They tasted pretty good but maybe need a little tweaking!

Millionaire's Shortbread

I am only having one piece......... I swear....... Ok....... Go on...... Maybe one more........ and another tomorrow!

Cakes..... Cakes.... and more Cakes!

Soooo...... there is not much to update really. Except that I am starting to get sad....... I have just over two very short weeks left in Edinburgh! =( Excited for heading back home to learn some new things and hopefully improve my skills a little! But I also do not want to leave. It also means that my little run of selling my sweet treats in the awesome Brass Monkey and Herbies shall be coming to an end very soon too!

Sad times.
So on a lighter note here are some of the ones I have been making of late. Pretty pleased with how most of them turned out!

Sticky Toffee

This is one of my Favourite Desserts and I may have had one or two of these!?

Triple Chocolate
With a yummy Milky Way Magic Star on top!

Mint Chocolate
What a ridiculous colour for icing to be?!!

Strawberry and Clotted Cream
The sponge of these ones was made using ALOT of Clotted Cream. I dread to think how bad it is for you!

Til next time! =)

It is Official!!

So I have officially been granted my year long interruption from Uni! Yeay. I now have images of me in an apron *covered* in flour BUT with the biggest grin on my face. I cannot wait to finally get the ball rolling and figure out how and what I am going to do?!

In the mean time I have been selling some wee cupcakes in Brass Monkey on Drummond Street and in Herbie West End..... so  if you frequent either of these establishments you may well have seen some of these already!!!

Mocha Cupcakes

I have to admit..... these were delicious. The icing on top was made using milka chocolate...... it tasted the bomb.

Carrot Cupcakes

Looking all tempting for customers of the Brass Monkey! I may have shared one with one of the boys that works here, Carrot cake has got to be one of the best cakes anyone can make. So yum.

Basically, I shall be continuing to make and sell some cakes in both Brass Monkey and Herbies West End (If people keep buying them!!) until the end of the month when I am leaving Edinburgh =( But only temporarily! It is all very exciting and I can't wait for it to get even more fun! =)

Putting my Cupcakes out there into the big bad world!

So..... I was asked, very nicely, by a lovely friend of mine to make a pair of cupcakes as a little gift for a couple who just got married. I also had been asked my lovely local pub, Brass Monkey, if I fancied making some for them to sell aswell. I figure I can kill two birds with one stone right here. So I did.

My cupcakes were actually in a public area, in exchange for actual full on proper money, not just the stuff you get in Monopoly!! I hope that everyone who spent that little squid enjoyed them! So here they are, both normal and all 'fit for a newly married couple' looking.

Raspberry and White Chocolate

And looking all cute

Hopefully I shall be making some more to sell in the lovely Brass Monkey so if you like them....... give one a go!! =)

And so it begins.......

Well....... I made this, what some may call ridiculous, choice to quit university. Yes, I full on decided to take a massive giant leap of faith, follow my gut, do what I want, whatever you want to call it?! Ok, to be fair I have not entirely given it up. I am taking a little nice year off....... going to give this baking malarky a friggin damn good try and then see where I am this time next year and if I so desire I shall return to the bones. Unlikely though. So to celebrate this momentous occasion..... I had to bake. So this is the latest batch...... they didn't quite work out how I wanted to. There are adjustments to be made, but I like the idea of them!? =)

Chocolate, Marshmallow and Raspberry

Happy *Easter* Everyone!!

Ok...... so it is that lovely time of the year where we all stuff ourselves with chocolates and other such goodies!

So yes I know, technically, I should have made something Easter themed with Creme Eggs or Bunnies or something..... but I am on the Isle-of-Skye folk and supplies are hard to come by up here! So instead I raided my mothers cupboards, which were pretty bare - minus some Baileys, Cocoa Powder and Chocolate so my decision was kinda already made for me. So here is the latest batch I have made.... Some lovely (hopefully) gooey Chocolate and Baileys Cupcakes! =)

Chocolate and Baileys!

First Official Post of My Spiralling Cupcake Obsession!

Wahey!!!!
I have joined this weird and wonderful world of blogging where I can write as much stuff as I want and my friends will feel obliged to read it...... Hahaha. Sucks to be you guys!

But no honestly, I am actually pretty excited about this. So if you know me, if you don't, if you like what you read, if you like what you see...... by all means pass it all around or let me know! I do have an awful knack of not liking or believing compliments so please throw them my way and I might actually start to change!

I ain't going to write too much on this one as I do actually have 4 assignments due in about 40 hours, and of course they are not finished. Not even close! So here are some photies of stuff I have been making (for fun, or friends, or for a wee charity fundraiser) since I moved to lovely Edinburgh =)

Banana and Maple Syrup
